Belle Gold Part 1

Years ago I made a version of Belle's Gold Dress from Beauty and the Beast for a musical production I costumed. It was therefore pretty interesting to try another version of the dress, this time based on the show "Once Upon a Time" where Belle is portrayed by Emilie de Ravin.

Skirt fabric. Tons and tons of it.

Bodice pieces!

Fine tuning the bodice pieces on the dress form.

Skirt material... petticoat.

Tulle underskirt to give it more body.

Lining fabric petticoat.

Close-up look at the trims and fabrics I assembled for the project.

Sewing the boning into the lining.

Hand-basting the seams to get the perfect fit.

Inside out still, but taking shape... See it come to life in Part 2!

Cool. Can't wait to see how this turns out! Belle's gown is one of my favorites--though I usually don't like puffy dresses. But hers has a special look, doesn't it? (And I always liked Belle anyway, so perhaps her personality also effected my perception of her dress. ;D
